Research data management is a new and rapidly evolving service area for libraries. These services are being developed to address the growing demands by the research community and funding agencies for support with the preservation, sharing and reuse of research data.
This Community of Practice (CoP) evolved out of the Introduction to Research Data Management Service Course produced by the Canadian Association of Research Libraries in January 2013. At this course, it was agreed that there is a need for a forum to enable ongoing dialogue and exchange with others working in research data management.
The CoP was launched to facilitate communication amongst librarians working in the area of research data management. Its purpose is to develop and share knowledge about the management of research data in academic and research libraries in Canada.
